Dealing with Heartache? Meet Jenny!

In the past, I went through many breakups that left me feeling devastated. Although there were some positive moments, most of my relationships were filled with heartache, stress, and tears.

I completely understand how it feels when a breakup hits you harder than others. There were times when my friends would give me a pat on the back, a little biased encouragement, and then tell me (kindly) to "get over it," or they would question why I couldn't just move on quickly. But the truth is that when you're going through that kind of heartbreak, you need more than generic advice and platitudes to help you heal.

Often the emotional turmoil from my breakups felt overwhelming - from grief and sadness to relief, joy, anger, and sorrow. It often felt like every day was a roller coaster of emotions - good one day, awful the next.

Through these experiences, I came to find that truly, my friends could only be supportive to a point. Most of them had been in long-term relationships and couldn't empathize with the pain of a recent breakup, or while my single friends faced similar struggles, many of our conversations could devolve into an unfavorable comparison of "who has it worse."

I often wished I had someone I could talk to who was solely there to listen and support me.

Therapy can be immensely beneficial, but looking back, I longed for someone I could talk to informally, someone who could be a friend AND objective at the same time.

After a while, I realized this was a need I was uniquely qualified to fill.

I've always been fascinated with relationships and what causes them to end. In my quest for knowledge, I've spent countless hours engrossed in books, podcasts, lectures, and interviews with those in both healthy and unhealthy relationships.

As a result, friends and acquaintances began to seek my advice and guidance.

It became apparent that many people could use a helping hand from a supportive "Buddy" to help them navigate their relationships.

This is why I decided to create Breakup Buddy PDX – a service that provides the support and guidance I wish I’d had during my struggles.

Sometimes you need someone who has felt the way you felt, made some of the mistakes you’ve made, and has come out a little stronger and wiser through it all. Breakup Buddy PDX is here to do just that.

If you're feeling alone, struggling to move past a breakup, or looking to build healthy relationships in the future, I am here to support you.

I look forward to talking to you!
